About Juvederm
Juvederm dermal fillers are made up of hyaluronic acid (HA), a deeply hydrating substance that naturally occurs in the body. (3) HA is known for its ability to effectively bind to water molecules, promoting volumization and deep hydration. We offer several different formulations of Juvederm to provide our patients with options to choose from based on their goals.
At Colorado Facial Plastic Surgery, the Juvederm fillers we offer include:
- JUVÉDERM® Vollure XC™: This formula is effective for smoothing moderate to severe facial wrinkles, primarily the nasolabial folds and other lines around the nose and mouth. This formula can last for up to a year before retreatment is recommended.
- JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC™: The JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC™ formula is ideal for reducing the appearance of fine lines and creases around the mouth, such as the marionette lines. (1) This filler may be used to improve the volume and appearance of the lips and can last up to one year after being administered.
- JUVÉDERM® Volbella XC™: JUVÉDERM® Volbella XC™ is ideal if you are interested in augmenting the shape and fullness of your lips, as well as addressing smaller lines found around the mouth. This formula is known for its natural-looking refinements and can last for up to one year, although many patients can see prolonged effects. (1)
- JUVÉDERM® Voluma XC™: This variation is designed to enhance the volume and contours of the cheeks and mid-face. JUVÉDERM® Voluma XC™ is the longest-lasting formula in the JUVÉDERM portfolio, lasting for up to two years.

Preparation
When preparing for your Juvederm treatment, you will need to discontinue taking medications and supplements with blood-thinning properties. You will need to avoid unprotected and excessive sun exposure, as this can damage your skin and affect your results. Alcohol consumption should be avoided 24 hours before and after your appointment. Additionally, you may need to temporarily modify your skincare routine to avoid using harsh cleansers, chemical peels, and retinoids to protect your skin’s barrier.
Procedure
All Juvederm formulas contain lidocaine to help numb the local treatment area, and your provider may also apply a topical anesthetic if you are more sensitive. Your injector will use a fine needle to carefully administer the chosen formula into specific areas of the face. The duration of each treatment session will vary depending on the areas being treated and the amount of filler being administered, but you can expect your appointment to last between 15 and 30 minutes.
Results

You will be able to notice immediate improvements after undergoing your treatment, but the full results will develop over the following week or two. You can enjoy more radiant, plump skin and an improvement in facial volume and sculpt, restoring a more youthful-looking appearance. The results of Juvederm are designed to be long-lasting and can provide effects for up to two years, depending on your metabolism and the type of formula used.
Corresponding Procedures
Providers can perform many procedures in conjunction with Juvederm to restore a more vibrant-looking appearance, with one of the most popular treatments being Botox. Botox is a minimally invasive treatment that is designed to help relax the facial muscles. This treatment is a neuromodulator, which means it blocks the nerve signals responsible for the repeated muscle contractions that cause wrinkles. This allows the skin to relax and smooth itself out, simultaneously reducing the development and appearance of facial aging.
