About Rhinoplasty Costs and Procedures

The nose is a prominent feature of the face that significantly influences a person’s appearance. As such, issues with one’s nose can impact one’s confidence and self-image. Each nose is unique and each rhinoplasty procedure must be meticulously planned to meet each patient’s individual goals. Factors influencing a patient’s anatomy like ethnicity, genetics, facial contours, lifestyle, diet, and more must be considered to create a nose that enhances their appearance while maintaining a natural and harmonious aesthetic. (1) Additionally, other surgical costs like operating fees, anesthesia fees, prescriptions, and more must also be considered when planning a rhinoplasty, and these will all affect the final cost of the procedure.

Cosmetic Rhinoplasty

Cosmetic rhinoplasty procedures are nose-enhancing treatments that are performed on patients whose noses do not have any functional issues. These patients typically seek improvement in the shape or size of their noses; correcting things like drooping tips, large nose sizes, dorsal humps, and more. (2)

Functional Rhinoplasty

Functional rhinoplasty procedures are nose surgeries that correct the function of the nose. Issues like deviated septums blocked nasal passages, and more can hinder breathing and make daily life difficult. Functional rhinoplasty can also improve one’s sense of taste as improved airflow allows for a stronger olfactory response.

Revision Rhinoplasty

If a rhinoplasty is performed by an inexperienced provider, it may require some revisions. Fortunately, revision rhinoplasty procedures can effectively correct any mistakes made in past procedures to leave patients with a new and improved nose, both in appearance and function.

Ethnic Rhinoplasty

Ethnicity and heritage are some of the strongest influences on the shape and appearance of one’s nose. Because of this, ethnic rhinoplasty procedures are available to sculpt noses that retain a patient’s cultural identity while improving their nose to meet their goals.

Benefits of Surgical Rhinoplasty

Undergoing a surgical rhinoplasty procedure allows patients to achieve their nose correction goals effectively and retain these results for potentially their entire lives. While non-surgical nose enhancement options do exist and can be effective—treatments like Botox, dermal fillers, fat transfers, and more—a surgical rhinoplasty will be more effective at restructuring the nose and producing stronger, longer-lasting results. At Colorado Facial Plastic Surgery, some of the benefits our patients achieve through rhinoplasty include:

  • Improved appearances: Achieve a balanced and proportional nose that enhances facial symmetry.
  • Increased confidence: A new nose shape can lead many patients to experience heightened self-esteem and social comfort.
  • Enhanced breathing capability: Functional rhinoplasty may alleviate obstructed airways, improving overall respiratory health.
  • Reduced snoring: Correcting structural abnormalities can contribute to quieter sleep.
  • Long-lasting results: Once healed, the results of rhinoplasty are typically permanent.
  • Customizable options: Surgeons can tailor the procedure to meet each individual’s specific aesthetic desires.
  • Minimal scarring: With skilled techniques, incisions can be placed inside the nostrils or discreetly located to minimize visible scarring.
  • Better facial harmony: The mouth-to-nose balance can create a more cohesive and appealing profile.

Choosing the Right Rhinoplasty Surgeon

Selecting the right rhinoplasty surgeon is an important factor in planning a successful procedure. Inexperienced nose surgeons may make mistakes, leading to the need for revisional procedures. Not only does this cost you more money and place you in another period of surgical recovery, but it is also a frustrating barrier between you and your ideal image. Fortunately, Colorado Facial Plastic Surgery is led by two double-board certified surgeons, each with countless hours of experience. Dr. Imola and Dr. Kowalczyk are both committed to offering patients attentive and personalized care while ensuring optimal and satisfying results.

Personal Consultation

Your rhinoplasty begins with a personalized consultation with either Dr. Imola or Dr. Kowalczyk. At this appointment, you will review your medical history, discuss your goals, and assess your nasal anatomy. This consultation is your opportunity to explore different surgical options, visualize your desired outcomes using imaging software, and provide invaluable insights into the entire process. This meeting is crucial as it allows both patient and surgeon to align their visions and set realistic expectations. Based on the information collected at this meeting, your unique rhinoplasty will be planned, and you will receive a cost estimate that reflects your goals and what is required in your procedure.

Open vs. Closed Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty procedures can be performed in one of two ways: open rhinoplasty or closed rhinoplasty. Occasionally, these methods may be combined, but most doctors will employ one or the other depending on a patient’s procedural goals. In an open rhinoplasty, a surgeon will make incisions on the face and carefully lift the skin to expose the nose’s underlying structural elements. (1) With this clear and open access, corrections to the nose are made. Cartilage may be removed or resculpted, connective and structural tissue may be altered, and other various corrections will occur.

Open rhinoplasty procedures are generally more expensive than closed procedures because they require more incisions and careful planning and are overall more complex procedures than their closed counterparts. In closed rhinoplasty, nasal structures are accessed and corrected through the nostrils. (1) External incisions and complicated tissue access methods are not required, but they still require a significant degree of complex and meticulous planning.

Results

While rhinoplasties are complex procedures, their planning and personalization create very high levels of patient satisfaction. Your results will be visible almost immediately after treatment, but they may be hidden for a few days due to swelling and bandages. Once you make significant progress in your healing, you will see a nose that works better and enhances your appearance. Your final results may take a few months to emerge.

Cost of Rhinoplasty in Denver

FAQ

Why is rhinoplasty expensive?

Although it is widely popular, rhinoplasty is one of the more expensive cosmetic procedures in medicine because of the meticulous planning and personalization it requires. Each patient’s nose is unique, and doctors must ensure that the planned corrections meet a patient’s goals while also maintaining a natural look.

What is the difference between surgical rhinoplasty and non-surgical nose augmentation?

While non-surgical nose augmentation is a cheaper, more convenient, and less complicated method of altering the nose, its results do not last nearly as long as surgical rhinoplasty. Surgical treatments will also more effectively correct the underlying issues that a patient faces.

Are the results of rhinoplasty permanent?

Yes, once healed, the changes made during the surgery are generally considered permanent.

How long does it take to recover after rhinoplasty?

Most patients can return to work within one to two weeks, although full activity should be resumed cautiously and may take a few months to normalize.

Will insurance cover my rhinoplasty costs?

Insurance coverage for rhinoplasty will vary depending on the insurance company and plan. If your rhinoplasty addresses functional issues, you are more likely to receive coverage. Cosmetic procedures may not be covered, but this is not always the case. Our office staff are well-versed in the confusing world of insurance coverage, so we will be happy to help you determine your insurance coverage options.
