This is a healthy, 52-year old Asian patient who presented with the request of narrowing her nostrils. The recommendation was made for an alar base reduction. This involves an incision on the underside of the nostril which, when done correctly, heals very well. The width was reduced about 3.5 mm on each side to create more narrowness. This can be done in-office under local anesthetic and with minimal swelling, bruising, or pain. The important point is to avoid too much narrowness which can make the nose appear operated or unsightly. The patient is pleased with her natural result.
